We operate a strictly confidential service. In certain circumstances (where there is judged to be significant risk or matters of child protection) we may be required to break confidentiality. This will be made clear to you at assessment and if you have any queries or concerns, you can discuss it with a member of the team. We also collect anonymised data on drug trends at assessment for the Health Research Board (NDTRS) with your permission. If you want to opt out of this, please inform a member of staff at assessment.
To properly support you we are obliged to record certain types of information. As a HSE/DSP funded agency, we adhere to the same data protection standards as our statutory partners. We only record information with your permission and it is held securely. Where we need to contact another agency or other third party, we will only do so with your full permission (except in matters of child protection or serious risk) and you will be kept fully informed throughout the process.
Please note: All agencies making a referral to our service on behalf of others are obliged to discuss the referral in full with the individual in advance of making it and obtain their permission.
- Project Worker Support / Key-Working and Case Management
We offer a holistic, care-plan led, key-working and case-management service delivered in accordance with NDRIC guidelines. If you avail of this service, one of our project workers will undertake a full assessment of your needs and assist you in achieving goals set out in your care-plan.
We provide a recovery focused counselling service to adults with drug and alcohol issues. Counselling support can be accessed as a stand alone service or alongside other supports. All our counsellors are IACP/ ACI accreddited. For more information, please contact a member of the team.
- Under 18s
NB: CDA Trust CLG is sorry to anounce that this service has been suspended pending a funding review. Our under 18 support service was funded by charitable donations which are now exhausted. We still provide a full family support service for parents affected by drug use.
We provide a limited counselling service for under 18s with drug and/or alcohol issues. This part of our service can only accept referrals from our partners in TUSLA, ISPCC, Foroige and CAMHS. If you are concerned about a young person, or would like to access this service yourself, please call to speak with a member of the team. Please be aware that drug or alcohol issues affecting under 18's may constitute a child protection concern and we may be obliged to inform child and family services.
- Drugs Education
Our service is committed to building capacity within the local community to respond to drug and alcohol use. We offer a range of evidence based training and educational supports to non addiction specific professionals/ individuals encountering drug and alcohol issues through their daily work (SAOR, CAD, etc) We are also able to provide bespoke training/ information on request.
- Therapeautic Group Work
Our programme offers a range of therapeautic group initiatives to cater for your needs (SMART, RTU etc). For more information please contact a member of the team.
- Family Support
We understand that drug and alcohol issues affect more than the individual and that families, partners and concerned significant others (CSOs) of those in addiction have their own support needs. We offer a range of evidence based, practical supports to help all those affected by drug and alcohol issues. We can also provide crisis intervention, mediation and family support counselling.
- Narcotics Anonymous
We host NA meetings at our Cavan office, every wednesday, 8pm to 9pm.
- Service User Group (SUST)

- Community Employment
Our Deis Nua Community Employment Scheme offers a range of training, work experirience and activities delivered alongside support for drug and alcohol issues. This scheme is open to anyone over the age of 18, in receipt of Job seekers allowance or a disability payment, who has a previous or current drug or alcohol issue (eligibility must be confirmed with the Department of Social Protection). - Drug Screening
NB: Due to the proliferation of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) we now routinely screen for additional substances including synthetic cannabinoids and cathinones. The price for our drug screening service has therefore been increased to €50. We can also tests for prescription drugs such as pregablin and alcohol metabolites on request at an additional charge of €5. If you have any queries, please speak to a member of our team.
We offer a drug screening service through our Cavan and Monaghan offices. We use a range of instant urine and saliva tests manufactured by Nal Von Minden that screen for the most commonly used substances. This service can be accessed as a stand alone, drop in basis at a charge of €50, or free of charge as part of an agreed care-plan with your key worker. We can also arrange regular testing as part of an agreed inter-agency care-plan at your request. A copy of your results can be made available to you on the day.
PLEASE NOTE: The test we use screen for the most commonly used substances which will be specified on your printed results. They cannot therefore confer nor guarantee a "drug free" status. They cannot determine frequency nor level of use and are only accurate for a period of up to 72 hours preceding the test. We do not perform observed or supervised urine screens under any circumstances. This service is only available to over 18s.
